For many centuries was little material to build houses in Iceland, other than a small timber that arrived by ship. it was widely used stones, soil and turf to housing.

End of the year 2010


With ends in 2010 with the fire and sing farewell songs as usual to. Residents gathered by the fire and having a good time. At midnight is shot in the air billions of fireworks. So we walk into the new year hopeful of better times.

Merry Christmas and jola

It is this time when the tourist town in the northern hemisphere awake for a while during the winter, which is otherwise quiet time. Preparing for Christmas is in full swing and both Christians and people who believe in God, the Vikings hold their festivals, however, on either reason. Cristina peoble celebrate the birth of Jesus, but other, called the ASA believers, celebrating the sun comes back (the Jol), because today is the longest night. This morning we got to see the lunar eclipse and thought it a fun event. In Iceland, which multiplies the rapidly adopt the ASA's, because the religions connects humans with nature, very strong umbilical cord.
-Now europe is submerged in snow and cold we've heard, but here's just a normal winter, frost but no snow yet.

Last summer festival ended.



Many Icelandic towns celebrate the summer time and most of the town with one special celebration. On Eyrarbakki are three holidays during the summer time. First, early spring, so is the middle of summer festival. Last festival is in mid-August. Thousands of people visit this old 19th century town every year. Every house and everything has a great story to tell the next generation. Foreign tourists who are interested in Icelandic history and nature visit the town in summer as winter. In winter it is the major surf from the Atlantic, which calls for tourists to watch the great waves breaking along the coast.

Ghosts Village


In hundreds of years has been a war between a group of ghosts and the Icelandic village residents Stokkseyri. Early last century could be priest’s overthrows ghosts back in the grave. But so badly wanted to be a ghost named Móri escaped from the Ghostbusters and went into hiding. The population treated even peace in one generation. Now seems to be Móri have come back with a new army of ghosts. It is said that people cannot sleep, hear strange sounds and seeing the mysterious shadows without reason. The worst is, however, when the cars without the driver run at night while the moon is full. Ghost’s Experts are now study the case and believe the reason is a new museum set about ghosts in the village, but other say it's problem coming from a HAARP station nearly Stokkseyri town.
