Polarity is growing in news reporting

Morgunblaðið, a right-wing newspaper affiliated with the Independence Party, has published a story claiming that brown people are increasingly applying for disability benefits and are much more likely than white people to apply for disability benefits, and has provided figures to support the story. DV, an independent and free news outlet, has refuted this half-truth. The fact is that 1 in 5 white people in the labor market apply for disability benefits at some point, while 1 in 28 brown people in the labor market do. Morgunblaðið, however, uses misleading percentage figures to give people the impression that brown people are a burden on the welfare system. - In recent days, a number of Morgunblaðið employees have been laid off, and it has been suggested that this is for streamlining purposes, but the most right-wing employees remain.

The Central Party's cruel propaganda videos are being distributed ⚠️

A number of videos are now circulating that show gross anti-Semitism, hatred of immigrants, Muslims and people of color. The propaganda videos are labeled "Miðflokkurinn" according to DV, an independent media outlet. The "Hate Party" has neither admitted nor denied involvement in the production of the propaganda videos. The Miðflokkurinn is now the second largest political party in Iceland and is sailing strongly according to opinion polls. Most of the videos are made with the help of AI, according to a journalist. Nationalist groups have disappeared from other parties, especially the People's Party, which is a member of the current government, and the Independence Party, which was the largest party for the entire last century. The current government is made up of center-right parties, but the so-called Miðflokkurinn is the most right-wing party in Icelandic politics and the most marginal party. Next spring, there will be local elections in the country, and the Center Party is planning to win big positions at the ballot box.

The center party is growing like mold on a pile of shit!

Now that the winter days are at their darkest and gloom is gathering over Iceland, one small political party has managed to grow like mold on horse manure and is now among the largest parties according to opinion polls.

This party is called "Miðflokkurinn" It is a center-right populist political party that emphasizes ancient national values, rural issues and criticism of immigration. The party has been criticized for racist and xenophobic statements from some members. Members of parliament have made derogatory comments about women, the disabled and homosexuals. Some critics compare the party's policies to nationalist populism.

The party is fond of Trumpism and is hostile to the European Union, but does not provide any information about its foreign policy, but based on the rhetoric of some party members, the party seems to favor a pure-Aryan policy.

The chairman Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson has expressed his positivity towards Donald Trump, for example by proposing to invite him to Iceland and award him an award at the party's national convention in 2025, but Trump did not attend the party convention.

Critics have accused the Center Party of sending leaders to the United States to learn from MAGA tactics, such as populism and direct attacks on the "elite" to reach the "people at the kitchen table"). This has been called the "Trump method" in Icelandic politics, especially in immigration and patriotism.

The party is considered by many analysts to be nationalist populist, with an emphasis on strict immigration policies, opposition to the EU, and "common sense" against the "elite" and international institutions - elements reminiscent of Trumpism. In its own view, the party is primarily an Icelandic center-right agrarian party with roots in rural issues. (Split from the Progressive Party)
The party is now popular (over 20% in some 2025 polls) without being directly a "Trump party".

The warship Talbot

On August 5, 1809, the English warship Talbot was anchored in the outer harbor of Eyrarbakki. The ship had sought shelter there from a storm under the command of Captain Alexander Jones. At Eyrarbakki, he received news that three English ships were in Reykjavik (including the English Viking merchant ships Margrét and Anna, flying the new Icelandic flag, a blue flag with three white cod fillets) and that an English soap merchant (Samuel Phelps) had become the captain of the island. Alexander Jones immediately weighed anchor and headed his ship to Hafnafjörður to take matters into his own hands.

That summer, a "revolution" had occurred in Iceland while the Napoleonic Wars raged in Europe and the country was effectively out of control from Danish authorities. Samuel Phelps' Danish interpreter, Jörgensen by name (Jörundur Hundadakonungur) then took over the country on behalf of the soap merchant. He declared that Iceland was free and independent of Danish rule and that there was peace throughout the world. Perhaps Jörgensen was able to indirectly inform the people of Eyrbek that his reign and "Icelandic independence" had ended so abruptly.

This Jörgensen had been on a coal carrier as a young man, but later mustered out as a midshipman on one of the ships of the British navy until he joined Samuel the merchant as a special interpreter in his trade with the Icelanders.
