Nationalist groups have disappeared from other parties, especially the People's Party, which is a member of the current government, and the Independence Party, which was the largest party for the entire last century. The current government is made up of center-right parties, but the so-called Miðflokkurinn is the most right-wing party in Icelandic politics and the most marginal party. Next spring, there will be local elections in the country, and the Center Party is planning to win big positions at the ballot box.
